Teresa Elementary School

The primary school was established during the early part of 1900, then at the time when Teresa was a part of the municipality of Antipolo.  It was housed in a semi-permanent building in Poblacion.  There was an annex building behind it, which was made of light materials like buho, bamboo and cogon.  There were four teachers then.  The supervising teacher was Mr. James O’Hara and Mr. Guevarra was the head teacher.  This school formed the nucleus of Teresa elementary School.
In 1919, Teresa became a municipality with Mr. Roberto de Jesus as mayor.  In the same year, there were four teachers and the principal was Mr. Pablo Abdula.
In 1921, the first Grade Five Class was organized with a temporary Home Economics building.  The building was made of light materials constructed on a two-hectare lot at Dalig, Teresa, Rizal donated by the late Brigido Capli Cruz.
The following years, the grade six classes were organized.  The first Grade five and six teachers were Mr. Gabriel Martinez and Julian Busala.  The principal was Mr. Severino Francisco and Mr. Serapio Cruz, the supervising teacher.  There were six teachers including the principal.
In the school year 1923 – 1924, the first semi – permanent building was built during the term of Mr. Roberto de Jesus, the major and the Governor was Hon. Ruberto Martinez.  Teresa had never a grade seven class.
Teresa had not been lucky.  Later on, the grade five and six had been closed on account of poor enrolment.  Teresa pupils had to study at nearby towns, Morong and Antipolo to complete their elementary education.
It was the school year 1940 – 1941, that Teresa Elementary School had its first elementary graduation.  It was a brigade elementary course.  There were seven teachers with an enrolment of 300 pupils.
During the Liberation in 1945, the school was housed in rented houses and the public market.  It was only in the year fifties that the semi-permanent buildings were constructed out of the War damage Commission.
Teresa was annexed to the Morong District in the school year 1946 – 1947.
In the school year 1960 – 1961, there was a re-organization of Morong and Antipolo District.  Teresa was attached to the Antipolo district formerly composed of Antipolo, Taytay and Cainta.
Antipolo – Teresa District was organized in January, 1961, with Mr. Lamberto San Esteban as the district Supervisor and Miss Fidela Perey as the Elementary School principal with 18 teachers.
Years rolled fast, enrolment have increased.  Teresa District is now a separate district of six schools.  Teresa Elementary School as central and pilot school had been continuously providing quality basic education to the learning populace of the community.  Progress was made possible by the school principals who were challenged by several thrusts of the educational system geared towards excellence.
